NSQMRA Members Attend Eastern Grand Nationals

The Oaklane Quarter Midget Club in Trumbauersville, Pennsylvania hosted the largest Eastern Grand Nationals in quarter midget history. The car count was 693 including the Novice division. Region 13 was well represented with 17 families traveling the 1,000 miles to compete. This is the largest showing ever from our region. The track was located on the property of the North Penn Gun Club spread out over several acres. Unfortunately, parking was also spread out over several acres, none of which were to close to the race track itself. Golf carts, ATV's or a four-wheeler was the best way to transport the racecars from the trailers to the staging area. Everyone did plenty of walking as well.

The Oaklane Club did a wonderful job trying to meet everyone's demands. There were plenty of racing and food vendors. The staging area was long enough to accommodate several classes at a time. The t-shirts were bright and colorful and they offered plenty of gifts and embroidered items too. The infield was painted with the Eastern Grands logo and the sponsor signs were all designed and placed to make the place look wonderful. Everyone received a participation plaque in their goody bags. The trophies were bright red and gold. They were handed out daily except the B & A main winners. Those winners had to wait for all of the technical inspections to be completed. This meant an early morning (3:00 a.m.) trophy presentation. If you were a winner, it sure was worth waiting for!

The next and final Grands for 2001 is the DIRT Grand Nationals to be held at Terre Haute, Indiana. It's not too late to make your travel arrangements to attend. The ultimate goal in quarter midget racing is to attend and participate in a grand national event. You'll be glad you did. The friendships made and the life lessons learned are irreplaceable.

Congratulations to Patrick Conrad for his A-Main win in Heavy Honda and to Kory Abbott for his Fast Time in Light AA. Also congratulations to all of our drivers who participated. We are proud of each and everyone one of you.
